Robert (Bob) Merski was born and raised in Erie, where he now raises his family. From the first time he ran for Erie City Council, he never considered himself a politician, rather a public servant. Bob believes that representatives work for the people, not special interests.
A graduate of Mercyhurst where he earned his degree in elementary education, Bob has taught in the Erie School District for the past 15 years. He also served as vice president of the Erie Education Association where he fought for fair and equal working conditions for middle class families.
His father, the former sheriff of Erie County, influenced him greatly. Even after his time in office was over, Bob continued to meet people his father had helped. The humility and devotion to the people of Erie county that his father showed is what has influenced Bob’s style of governing during his time on the Erie City Council. As one of the youngest ever elected members of the Erie City Council, he has worked for a better life for all people living in the region. Bob listens to the people he represents and wants to make sure their concerns get addressed.
He will continue to do this in Harrisburg. As the state representative of HD-2, Bob wants to make sure that every person he represents is heard. His priorities include creating quality, family sustaining jobs, bringing tax dollars back to the district, and increasing education funding. With Bob Merski in the state house, Erie will have a representative on whom they can trust and rely.
