Candidate Spotlight:

Chrissy Houlahan

District 6

chrissy houlahan

The daughter of a Naval officer and a Holocaust survivor, Chrissy Houlahan does not take her freedoms for granted. She earned an engineering degree from Stanford University under a ROTC scholarship, earned her M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT, and then served as a captain in the Air Force: three years active duty, and thirteen years in the Reserve.

Chrissy acted as Chief Operating Officer of both AND1 Basketball (a private company) and B-Lab (a nonprofit), and advocated for fair business practices for both. She then shifted to education, serving as a Teach for America corps member and working as a chemistry teacher in North Philadelphia. Afterwards, she became president and COO/CFO of Springboard Collaborative, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit focused on improving early childhood literacy in underserved communities across the country.

Chrissy’s priorities are extensive. Having both attended and worked in public schools, she understands their needs and their value in our society. She is adamant that our government should serve all Americans, not just those in the 1%, and she will build toward a 21st century economy in which hard work really is a ticket to prosperity.

With multiple degrees to back her up, Chrissy understands that scientists’ warnings about climate change need to be taken seriously. She also knows that families cannot afford to turn the clock back on women’s rights and reproductive freedom, and that healthcare is a human right endowed to all Americans.

Washington is a mess and Chrissy Houlahan is the antidote. The America that we strive for is possible and Chrissy will see to it that we achieve it no matter who sits in the Oval Office.
