Ed Gainey ran for the State House in 2012 with the goal of bringing a new vision to Harrisburg. Before running, he worked as the community development specialist for Pittsburgh. He started the Minority Media Initiative, educated the Pittsburgh Police in diversity training, and the 52 weeks of peace.
After that success, he decided to take his passion to the state level and start helping more people across the Commonwealth. While he still is a board member for Divine Intervention Ministries and PROMISE organizations, he is a committee member on the house appropriations, education, health, and transportation committees. He also is a member of the LGBT Equality, Steel, and Women’s Health caucuses. With his vast involvement in the State House, Ed has ensured his dedication to the people he represents.
Ed Gainey listens to the people he works or and remains strongly involved in his community. He believes that effective representation starts with communication with the people he represents, which is why he has been so successful in Harrisburg. For five years, he has been the leader HD 24 desperately needs, and that is what he will continue to be.
