Kristine Howard is the best bet for Pennsylvania’s children. She has seven of her own – with four still living at home – but still has managed to advocate for other children over the course of her professional career.
After graduating from UPenn undergrad and Rutgers law school, Kristine ran a small legal and social services organization in New Mexico for five years. Afterwards, she returned to Pennsylvania and began working for Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and became a child advocate for children in foster care in Philadelphia.
Her keen interest in children and child welfare opened the door to her current position, working for the County investigating child abuse cases. As a caseworker, she has come to see a darker side of the wealthy and beautiful Main Line communities where she has raised her family. Her experiences as a social worker, mother and political activist have come together in her decision to enter the Democratic Primary for State Representative in the 167th District.
Kristine has a fresh and personal understanding of the challenges working people face raising a family and wanting good schools for their children. She knows how difficult it can be for a woman to find career equality, even with a first class education and strong skill sets. And she has been on the front line with kids falling through the cracks in Main Line communities suffering abuse, neglect and missed opportunities in one of the wealthiest counties in the country.
Known as a progressive activist in the Philadelphia area, Kristine is passionate about women’s reproductive rights. As someone who has dedicated her life to raising and fighting for children, she understands that women know best when making decisions about family planning.
With Kristine Howard in the State House, all of our children will be better off.
