Born and raised in Washington County, Steve Toprani has dedicated his life to improving his community through the law. After graduating from Duquesne Law School, Steve joined the Pennsylvania Office of General Counsel to serve the state in legal matters. He went on to assist local residents at his private law practice in South Fayette.
Steve did not intend to go into politics, but when multiple scandals plagued his local government Steve saw the need to step up and serve his community. In 2007, he was elected as the Washington County district attorney with over 65% of the vote. During his time in office, Steve was praised for attacking corruption and was well-respected by local law enforcement officials.
In Harrisburg, Steve will bring honest and accountable leadership that attacks local issues. He plans to work with state and local officials to combat the opioid crisis with new treatment options. He believes in re-evaluating the drug epidemic not as a criminal justice issue, but a public health emergency.
